Kenya: Golf - Spencon Group to Stage Maiden Tourney

Spencon Group have entered the world of corporate golf. The company, which specializes in the development of infrastructure projects in East Africa, will host its inaugural tournament at Muthaiga Golf Club on Friday afternoon.
Spencon's Group marketing and corporate communications manager, David Maingi, said the event had attracted a field of 112 golfers.
The company plans to host several other golf events throughout East Africa.
"We are a regional company with presence in East Africa, Zambia and as far away as the United Kingdom and Dubai," said Maingi.
Action at Muthaiga begins from 11.50am with some of Kenya's top corporate and business executives expected to be in action.
Those drawn include the Kenya Shell boss, who is also the Kenya Golf Union chairman, Patrick Obath, Uchumi chief executive Jonathan Ciano, former Nation Classic national champion Elijah Adul, long hitting Jack Okuku, former Muthaiga chairman Tim Onyango, current chairman Steve Mwaniki and Rwanda's ambassador to Kenya, George William Kayonga. The event, organised by Golf Plus Limited, has also attracted other players including Tom Mulwa, Jonah Mutuku. Uchumi's Owino Ayodo and Spencon's L.R. Patel.
Meanwhile Muthaiga will on Sunday host the annual Kenya Ladies Golf Union (KLGU) Charity Greensomes.
The event, held to raise funds for charity, is sponsored by PZ Cussons East Africa Limited under their Venus brand for the sixth year running.
